About GOSHC

The Goldfields Out of School Hours Care Centre (GOSHC) is a child-focused curriculum that aims to provide recreational care for children aged Pre-primary to Year 4, that reassures parents that their child’s individual care and educational needs are being met in a warm, safe and caring environment.

We believe in the importance of a well-planned educational curriculum that enables participation by all children, where they can develop physically, intellectually, socially and emotionally.

We abide by the National Quality Framework and  the Framework for School Age Care in Australia  to guide all our practices.

Our curriculum aims to provide quality care in which children can participate in challenging, fun and entertaining activities such as art, craft, technology, cooking, games, sport, free play, the opportunity to complete homework and join in excursions and incursions.

We understand that the time children spend with us is their recreation time, just as it would be if they were at home.  We endeavour to offer children the choice of activities and experiences that they might not have available to them outside the curriculum

We offer a Before School Care service, where children are able to participate  in a array of activities and experiences.  Children are then taken to school using the centre owned bus.

Our After School Care service collects children from their school and returns to the Sandalwood Family Centre.  Children then feast in an afternoon tea of 5 seasonal fruits plus assortment of snacks approved by a nutritionist ensuring we are meeting the Healthy Eating Guidelines.  Children then participate in activities and experiences including sporting skills training, arts and crafts, cooking and cultural events.

Our Vacation Care Curriculum is full day of care offering morning and afternoon tea service and array of activities, experience and excursions based on a theme.  This theme changes weekly and the centre promotes local community  attractions to visit on our excursions.

Philosophy

At Goldfields Out of School Hours Care we aim to provide recreational care for children, that reassures parents that their child’s individual care and educational needs are being met in a warm, safe and caring environment.

We encourage our children to take risks, explore, be adventurous, play, learn responsibility, and celebrate their individuality.

We abide by the National Quality Regulations and the My Time Our Place Framework for School Age Care in Australia to guide all our practices.

We support children’s involvement in their learning through the educational program and believe children have the right to relax and play and to join in a wide range of challenging and fun experiences.

Our curriculum aims to provide quality care in which children’s choices, voices and interests are that basis for the program. Children can participate in activities such as arts and craft, games, free play, cooking, sport, homework and excursions and incursions. All families have the opportunity to be involved in the centre and participate in the decision-making process.

We respect everyone’s different levels of social, physical, emotional, intellectual, and cultural aspects of their life. Educators nurture   the personal development of children in these areas to become successful, competent and capable learners.

We believe in a positive and proactive approach to our environment and encourage educators and children to discover respect for the land, nature and animals. We continue our journey towards a sustainable future for the wellbeing of our world.
